I'm Louis Murrall — a Birmingham-based documentary filmmaker and Director of Photography with 17 years of professional experience. I work with independent directors, production companies, broadcasters, and brands to create documentary work that is honest, cinematic, and built to last. For longer projects I like to spend time understanding the story before we get anywhere near a camera. The best documentary work comes from that groundwork — knowing what you're really trying to say and building a visual approach around it.

  • Yes — I'm based in Birmingham but regularly shoot across the UK. Travel and accommodation quoted separately for overnight shoots.

  • I have a full owner-operator kit package including camera, lenses, lighting, and rigging. I don't rent kit standalone — it comes with me as the cinematographer on your shoot.
